PALL FILTRATION

Filter sheets and modules

Description

Pall-Seitz filter sheets
Pall-Seitz filter sheets are cellulose-based depth filters. Filter sheets are divided into two types:

  • SEITZ-K filter sheets: This type of sheets is used to filter wine, clear juices, water, extracts, spirits, and for the rest of the food industry.
  • Seitz ZD filter sheets: These are filter sheets that are produced from the high-quality cellulose, without the addition of inorganic components (perlite and diatomaceous earth).

Advantages of ZD sheets in comparison with conventional filter sheets:
  • Favourable effect on the colour and aroma of the product.
  • High purity and less migration.
  • 50% lower water consumption during rinsing and regeneration.
  • Better sheet sealing and less product loss by dripping.
  • Easier regeneration.
  • Longer filtration cycles.

Supradisc and Supradisc II filter modules
Filtration through modules is considered a modern way of filtration, as an alternative to the classic open filter sheet filtation.
The filtration principle is identical to the sheet filtration, with the difference that the filter sheets are in the form of a filter module, which is easily and quickly installed in the filter housing similar to housings for filter cartridges. There are two dimensions of filter modules, namely:
  • 12” filter with a diameter of 293 mm with 32 filter sheets and a total filtration area of 1.8 m2.2In practice, this means exactly 13 filter sheets of 40 × 40 cm.
  • larger, 16” filter module with a diameter of 410 mm, which contains 40 filter sheets and has an area of 5.0 m2,2which is exactly 40 filter sheets of 40 × 40 cm.

Compared to the classic sheet filtration, the SUPRAdisc module has the following advantages:
  • closed filtration system, which means less product loss and reduced oxidation,
  • very easy and fast installation of the module (similar to filter cartridge housings),
  • the possibility of regeneration and backwashing of the modules and thus extending the shelf-life of the filters,
  • easy conservation of modules after filtration.

SUPRApack module filters
Compared to classic filter sheets, Pall offers you a new patented PALL SUPRApak filtration system, where the filter sheet is wound in the form of a spiral on the module. Compared to the classic filtration where the liquid passes perpendicular to the filter sheet in the new SUPRApak modules, the liquid passes through the sheet along its entire length, which allows a significantly larger amount of product to be filtered through the module.

In addition, compared to the sheet filter, the module is installed in a closed housing, which provides many advantages:
  • Easy and fast installation or replacement of the module.
  • Closed filtration system and thus less product loss (no dripping).
  • Reduced oxidation due to a closed system, as the filter can be filled with inert gas before filtration.
  • Significantly higher total amount of filtered product.
  • Possibility of rinsing and regeneration of the module after the completion of the filtration cycle.
  • Possibility of conservation and reuse.

In case you are interested in test filtration, we can provide you with a free test housing.

Filter cartridges

Description

Pall product range includes a number of filter cartridges for wine filtration, which can be divided according to the porosity or type of filtration (coarse-fine-sterile) and into individual types of filter cartridges.

Filtration with filter cartridges is a closed filtration system that ensures minimal loss of product (wine), minimal oxygen uptake and changes in taste and colour.

Filtrske sveče tipa Pall-Profile Star filter cartridges are one of the most well-known and versatile cartridges used in pre-filtration of wine before membrane 0.45µm and 0.65µm cartridges, respectively. cartridges work on the basis of depth and surface filtration. cartridges can be cleaned with chemical agents, backwashed, sterilized, etc. A large selection of absolute porosity (from 1µm to 40µm) allows for versatility and extreme flexibility.

Pall-OenoClear cartridges are the most mechanically resistant cartridges made of polyaramid fibres (Kevlar). cartridges are one of the most robust filters because they can be washed with cold or warm water in the opposite direction of filtration, purified with various chemical agents of high concentration and temperature. Cartridges are used as protection for membrane cartridges. Cartridges have an extremely high ability to remove particles and reduce yeast.

Membranske filtrske sveče Pall-MEMBRAcart XL membrane filter cartridges with a porosity of 0.45 µm and 0.65 µm, respectively, are one of the most widespread filter cartridges for filtering white and red wine before bottling. They are distinguished by exceptional chemical resistance and long service life, as the cartridges can be sterilized with steam at temperature of 125 oC for up to 50 hours.

Tangential (Cross flow) systems

Description

The Pall Oenoflow-XL filter is one of the highest quality tangential (Crossflow) filter in the world. With the mentioned system, we can replace the classic kieselguhr filtration and filtration with filter sheets in a very simple, fast, and cost-effective way.

Filter modules with a large filtration area (21.5 m2) enable large flows from 1200 to 2500 litres/module, long service life and high-quality filtration without losing the quality of wine.2) omogočajo velike pretoke od 1200 do 2500 litrov/modul, dolgo življenjsko dobo ter zelo kakovostno filtracijo brez izgube kakovosti vina.

Special symmetrical PVDF membranes with a very smooth surface have high chemical and mechanical resistance and allow the filtration of wine even after the addition of bentonite or cold stabilization of wine.

The sales programme includes various types of filter systems, from simple system with manual control with one or two modules (Pall-Oenoflow XL-M) to fully automated systems that allow fully automatic control of filtration, cleaning or emptying the system (Oenoflow XL-A). There is also Oenoflow FIT system, which is a system intended for smaller winemakers. The system consists of two modules and has a possibility to connect additional tanks on a tank for filtered and unfiltered wine and two additional modules for increasing the filtration capacity.

The Oenoflow HS system is an automatic system intended for the filtration of must, wine lees, sediments from tanks, and also wine after fermentation. The system uses the same type of membrane as the Oenoflow filter for wine filtration, except that the modules have a smaller surface area due to the larger diameter of the module membrane.
